Types of Seals on Trash Bags

In the manufacturing of
trash bags there can be literally thousands of bags but all of them will have one of the three types of seals. The star seal, gusset seal, and flat seal all have advantages and disadvantages that will help in handling the job. Each seal has an advantage that may be useful or harmful for the purpose that bag is being utilized. The following points are the differences between star seal, gusset seal, and flat seal.
- Star Seal
o Virtually leak proof for wet trash
o Length of bag is shorted
- Gusset Seal
o Allows for bag to expand from bottom
o Of the three has highest chances of leaking
- Bottom Seal
o Does not compromise the link
o Relatively Leak Proof
Star Seal trash bags are manufactured by folding the bottom of the trash can liner over several times and then sealing it. These
trash bags will virtually eliminate leaks. They also conform better to the shape of the waste receptacle by spreading refuse around the
trash liner.
Gusset seal trash bags are a flat style
trash can liner that is manufactured with both sides tucked in to form gussets. The outer edges of the trash bags where there are indentations is sealed with four layers of film, while the middle are sealed with only two layers. These type of seal has a tendency to leak when utilized for wet trash.
Flat seal
trash bags are manufactured by sealing the bottom edge. This type of seal is relatively leak proof. The clear advantage of this type of bag is the bag does not compromise the length of the overall bag.
